Maxim Integrated’s MAX40016 current sense amplifier features an internal sensing element that can accurately determine current levels from 300µA to 3A. The 4-decade sensed current figures are delivered with only 1% (typical) gain error. The amplifier offers three, multiplexed programmable output ranges in order to interface with 12-bit ADCs. Having an integrated sense element means the entire current measuring path can be factory-trimmed – saving time and expense by not having to calibrate independent sense resistors, etc. A -40°C to +125°C operational temperature range is supported. Mobile consumer products, RF power monitoring systems and portable instrumentation are among the key applications.
