STMicroelectronics has launched a power receiver IC that includes a wireless power receiver, a programmable buck converter and a microcontroller unit (MCU). The STWLC03, a WPC and PMA compliant IC, also integrates NVM memory that stores customized parameters that can be input via the JTAG or I2C interfaces.
The buck converter contains configurable soft-start, input current and input voltage regulation loops to optimize the function in a wireless charging environment. If wireless power is not available, the device can be supplied from an external supply. The MCU communicates with the host platform through an I2C interface. The device contains blocks for the frequency detection and the driver for the external switch.
