STMicroelectronics’ STPW12 hot-swap voltage controller IC is an integrated electronic power breaker, optimized to monitor input power and available in power SO8 packages. It is connected in series to all the power-rail to disconnect the electronic circuitry on its output if the power consumption overcomes the programmed limit. When this happens, the device automatically opens the integrated power switch and disconnects the load. It supports a 10.5V to 18V input voltage range, 50mΩ (typical) P-channel on resistance, and 1.5A (typical) continuous current over an operational junction temperature range of -40°C to 125°C. Circuit protection features include thermal shutdown, under-voltage lockout, adjustable power limitation, real-time input power sensing, and PWM mode.
